PAPER TOURNEYS
When Cases crashes, the
general feeling and reactions in the lobby are, what now, what do we do,
whom do we play! Etc. It is
our job, as TD’s to quickly take control of the situation and restore order
ASAP.
A standard format for these tourneys not only helps the players to feel at ease, but also the TD’s.
IF
CASES CRASHES PRIOR TO REGISTERING
15-20 mins prior to the
start of the tourney, announce in the lobby that names will be taken for a paper
tourney, and that partners will be chosen at random.
This allows players to enter the tourney without you, as the TD having to
wait while they find one.
Allowing players to
pick their own partners is best left to the more experienced TD’s.
It can be very time consuming, difficult to keep in control of, and
easily gets out of hand
Pay close attention to the
lobby, and add players to your list. Confirm
you have them added and keep announcing that it is a Paper Tourney for late
arrivals. (Work closely with a HTD
for backup – and double check your list with them)
5 mins before the tourney
is due to start, announce once again the list of players you already have.
Add any latecomers. An even
number of players is required, and it is a good idea for the HTD to be added or
withdrawn as needed.
Announce the Rules for the
Tourney, then let everyone know that Check-in is now closed -
brb with standings.
This announcement covers you in the event of players arriving while you
are working standings out.
Count the amount of
players you have on your list, divide by 2 and select the required amount of
teams (i.e. 12 players = 6 Teams / 18 players = 9 Teams).
Follow the page layout for any Byes you may have.
First pair of names drawn
out are placed in 1st position.
Second pair of names are placed in 2nd position.
Pay particular attention to those Teams who have a BYE
Announce the Standings in
the lobby. Preferably use
laddernames not actual names, or short from of laddername – ie. Irishhoney29er
= irish / rosey29er = rosey. (Remember..Not
everyone knows other players actual names)
Announce all teams –
even those with Byes. This
reassures the players and stops questions being asked.
Preferred Format would be e.g.
MAGPIE/BIGASS HAVE A
BYE
LOVINGHERO/COBLER
SET FOR HUSSIEMAN/NEPTUNE
ETC. ETC
Follow this format for all
rounds.

CRASHING ON CLOSE OF CHECK-IN
When this happens, keep the registered teams together.
Remember to remove any Players without Partners, and select no. of teams to play. Announce Standings in Lobby as above. In certain circumstances, it might be possible to report these tourneys at a later time when Cases is back. Keep all information, and if games count please email admin the match results and let them report manually please be patient this might take time
